The Belfries of Ghent

As the title suggests, the inspiration for this concert band piece comes from the many spires found in the city of Ghent, Belgium. The themes suggest the majesty and beauty of these structures during the day and in the evening. A theme showcasing the internal mechanisms that govern the clocks and tolling bells is also included. The full complement of percussion and orchestration ensures a fulfilling performance by large and small bands alike!

This collection of 46 historic chorales by 25 American composers is flexibly arranged into SATB harmony for concert band! A variety of key signatures and time signatures is utilized, and historical anecdotes about the composers are included.
